We’re living in Mexico. Back in June we loaded our truck with some stuff and drove south of the border. We didn’t have a place to live only a general plan to get ourselves to Lake Chapala. Things To Do
At the Malecon, there are booths with vendors selling various Mexican made goods. There are restaurants, food carts, children’s rides, games, a skate/bike park, and all the goings-on of life in Mexico. You could also hire a boat to take you out on the lake. There are islands to visit. One has the ruins of a prison. Stroll along the waterfront or relax on a park bench.
Within a mile radius of the Malecon, there are banks, restaurants, coffee shops, hardware stores, motorcycles, appliances, party stores with giant pinatas, churches, floral shops, clothing, shoes, ice cream, fountains, murals, home goods, garden supplies, produce, juice bars, arcades, grocery stores, colorful old buildings, and more. You will probably see dogs. Maybe people on horseback. You will surely encounter music.
Driving Notes
If you’re driving, keep in mind one-way streets are quite common in Mexico. Chapala is no different. Watch your mirrors on narrow streets. A lot of busted side mirrors on cars from hitting telephone poles, other car mirrors, poles, etc.
