I Had Dengue Fever

A few weeks ago I had Dengue Fever. I’m positive it explains my illness. I didn’t see a doctor, but my symptoms were so specific to those of Dengue Fever. Plus, it is common in the area where we’re living in Mexico. A week before I became ill, a guy at the gym we go to also had it. In reading local online forums we were aware a lot of people in the area were being affected by it.

Dengue Fever is a mosquito-borne illness caused by the Dengue Virus. It’s prevalent in tropical regions of the world.

Symptoms can include: high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.

I experienced fever, severe headache, body pain, and the rash. Additionally, I had strange, restless dreams.

The headache and rash were the worst to experience. I spent three days staying almost entirely in bed. My sleep was restless. On the night when I had the dreams, even my sleep seemed exhausting.

I made a video talking about my experience, which you can see below. I’ve learned more details about Dengue Fever since I did the video. Apparently, there is a vaccine, but it is only recommended for AFTER you’ve had the illness once. (I have no plans to get it). Also, it can be transmitted between people by way of blood, but I think this is rare. Mostly it is only contracted through the bite of an infected mosquito.
