Since it is raining and raining and raining I decided to spend a little time baking some cookies. I made these Spiced Molasses Cookies during the holidays and shared them with family and friends. They are simple to make and yummy….will make your house smell great too.
All the good stuff that goes into the mix.
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3/4 cup Vegetable Shortening
- 1/4 cup Molasses
- 1 whole Egg
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
- 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2-1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix Sugar, Shortening, Molasses, & Egg together until well combined.
Mixed: sugar, shortening, molasses, & egg
Dump in all the dry ingredients, stirring them together lightly. Mix everything until dough is totally combined.
Flour and spices and stuff
Using your hands roll balls (about walnut size) out of the dough. Give each dough ball a good coating of granulated sugar before placing on a baking sheet.
Ready to bake
Bake for 9-12 minutes….you know they are good to go when they are browned and cracks have formed.
Take them out of the oven and allow them to cool (or not- they’re good warm and chewy too)….they’ll become crisp.
Happy cookie eating.
